  2. Jimese – Great job! You have really made great headway in utilizing the tools of the program. I have to agree with Kevin - the illustration is better than the photo. Your use of line in reference to the shapes gives variety, texture verse flat and the red and green contrast create a very dynamic image. Congratulations

  3. Jemise Bug Cricket – you have such skill with illustrating and have worked consistently well. Congratulations on your visit to Nappa
    1. Flower is excellent – following your instincts with the haziness verses the refined crisp stamens is great! You created a good sense of depth using color and value, and the playfulness of the text is very postcardish. To add some contrast find the dominant dark color then add some of that to the shadow areas and that will add movement and emphasis
    2. What a delightful use of photo and illustration – they work together cohesively. Again think of making shadow and small areas darker using the dominant color and that will draw further attention to detail. You need to work on your text. I think the type face in the first is successful and could be translated into this card - light and dark
    3. The least successful. The grasshopper seems to be plopped in to the image. It is not the same in framing – too far away, yet the gradient in the background is good
