Thylajim

This artwork consists of 4 photographs in Photoshop and about 10 layers in Illustrator. I was trying to create a half-human, half-animal piece that has not been done before, so I searched for a rare animal and came up with a Thylacine, which is a now extinct marsupial native to Australia. It had a dog/kangaroo/tigerlike body and died out in the 1930s. I added myself into the photo as an interesting play in using a self-portrait and also because I felt it would be easier to have a photograph of myself to fit this particular photo. This art piece is very fun and unique to look at but is still lacking a bit in the border area....

  1. Design: The concept is really great and the creation of your woman person is great. I like your banner and the circles could frame your work to make it an effective poster but they are not working yet. They seem like stuff in the corners, just there to fill up space. Why is there nothing in them? You originally had the star with the information, but to make the circles more like circus information they needed to have text or be some part of the illustration. The issue started when you had the star and information that didn’t work and if you are trying to work through the inclusion of information, in a circus manner, you have to then redefine the what you are doing with the circles. Brads idea of the radiating stripes out – like the Chinese rising sun. Perhaps the idea of making them into columns.
YOu are a great student - I can't wait to see you in my class again - have a great holiday and feel free to contact me.
